OUR PROJECTS
TeamBath Racing Electric
Here at Cubik Innovation we are always keen to lend a hand wherever we can. We especially like helping out students, not just through intern and work experience opportunities, but also live projects.
Earlier in the year we had a call from Guy Barkley, an Engineering student at Bath University telling us about a very exciting project he and his peers have been working on.
Team Bath Racing Electric is formed of a group of current 3rd year undergraduate engineering students which seeks to design a single seat, open wheeled electric race car. Carrying out the design and development of the car, as well as integrating business studies, the car forms part of their studies.
Seeking Sponsorship, TBRe16 approach Cubik Innovation for support … we said yes! How about some PCB’s!?
Guy and his peers Sam Bath and Aaron Forward set about designing two separate PCB’s for the car, one for power management and one to be mounted directly onto the dashboard for indication. Cubik Innovation took receipt of their design files and had the boards manufactured for the team.
Fast forward 6 months and two separate PCB designs, TBRe16 has just competed in the Institute of Mechanical Engineers Formula Student event at Silverstone!

Although the team failed to get through scrutineering, they were the only UK team to have a car running a PCB so they are already well ahead of the competition!
Into their 4th year of their Degrees, the team will continue to develop and work on the car ready to compete in the Class 2 design event at Silverstone and other Formula Student events globally next year. We can’t wait to see how the team gets on next and look forward to supporting them in their next stage of design. In the meantime, the team take a well-earned summer break!
Congratulations to the whole team!
