How do I start a project with Cubik Innovation?
We'll begin with an introductory call to discuss your project and, if required, put a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) in place. Once we understand your requirements, we'll provide a tailored proposal outlining how Cubik Innovation can support your project.

Is Cubik Innovation based in Bristol?
Yes we are based at Station Road Workshops, Station Rd, Kingswood, Bristol BS15 4PJ

Can Cubik support startups and SMEs?
Yes. We work with everyone from individual inventors and start-ups to SMEs and established businesses across a wide range of industries.

Does Cubik only design products, or can it manufacture them too?
We do both. Whether you need electronic design, prototype assembly, PCB manufacture, box-build assembly, or full production, we can support your project from concept through to manufacture. We can also manufacture products you've already designed, provided the necessary manufacturing data is available

What sectors does Cubik work with?
We work across a wide range of sectors, including consumer electronics, aerospace, defence, energy, medical, automotive and many more. If your industry isn't listed, we'd still be happy to discuss your project - we work with organisations across virtually every sector.

What Certifications and Accreditations do Cubik hold?
We're committed to maintaining high standards of quality, security and workmanship. Cubik Innovation is certified to ISO 9001:2015, holds Cyber Essentials Plus certification, works to IPC-A-610 standards, and is JOSCAR registered.

Can Cubik Innovation design an electronic product from scratch?
Yes, we support electronic product development from concept and feasibility through to circuit design, PCB layout, embedded software, prototyping, testing and manufacturing.

Can Cubik design electronics to meet specific power, size, or cost requirements?
We design to your specified power, size and cost targets wherever possible. If conflicting requirements mean not every target can be achieved, we'll clearly explain the trade-offs and agree the best balance based on your project's priorities.

Can Cubik review an existing schematic and check for design issues?
Absolutely, we are more than happy to complete design reviews.

Can Cubik help with PCB design?
Yes, if you already have a schematic we can generate the PCB design for you. If you do not have a schematic yet, we can do that also.

Does Cubik design PCBs for high-speed signals or sensitive analogue circuits?
Yes, we have experience designing PCBs for high-speed digital interfaces and sensitive analogue circuits where signal integrity, noise reduction, impedance control, and careful component placement are critical. We apply industry best practices throughout the layout process to maximise performance and reliability.

Does Cubik consider enclosure fit and mechanical constraints during PCB layout?
Absolutely. We work with your mechanical designs, CAD models, and enclosure drawings from the outset to ensure the PCB fits correctly and integrates seamlessly with the final product. Connector locations, mounting points, keep-out areas, and manufacturing tolerances are all considered during the design process.

Can Cubik develop embedded software?
Yes. We develop embedded software for a wide range of microcontrollers and embedded systems, from simple control applications through to complex real-time systems. Our software is designed to be reliable, maintainable, and tailored to your product's specific requirements.

Does Cubik work with sensors, displays, wireless modules, or control systems?
We regularly integrate a wide variety of technologies, including sensors, LCD and touchscreen displays, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, LoRa, GNSS, cellular communications, motor control, industrial interfaces, and other embedded peripherals. We select the most appropriate components and technologies to meet your application's requirement.

Does Cubik design software with future updates or product improvements in mind?
Yes. Wherever practical, we develop software with future development in mind. By using a modular, well-structured approach, we make it easier to add new features, support hardware revisions, and maintain your product throughout its lifecycle, helping to reduce future development time and cost.

Can Cubik build and test a working prototype?
Yes, we will build the prototype units and then test them. With product development it is often iterative so we will fault find and modify the PCBs to provide you with a working prototype.

What is the difference between a proof-of-concept prototype and a production-ready prototype?
A proof-of-concept prototype is designed to demonstrate that an idea or technology works. A production-ready prototype goes further, incorporating manufacturability, reliability, testing, compliance, and cost considerations to prepare the product for volume manufacture.

Does Cubik assemble and test prototypes in-house?
Yes. We can assemble, inspect, and test prototypes in-house, allowing us to identify issues early and make design improvements before moving towards production.

Can Cubik help identify issues with an existing prototype?
Absolutely. Whether your prototype has design flaws, manufacturing issues, or performance problems, we can investigate the root cause and recommend practical solutions to get your project back on track.

How quickly can a prototype usually be produced?
Prototype lead times vary depending on design complexity, component availability, and PCB manufacturing times. We'll always provide an estimated timescale at the start of the project and work to deliver your prototype as quickly as possible.

Can you make changes after the first prototype has been tested?
Yes. Prototyping is an iterative process, and design changes are often expected. We'll review the test results with you, recommend improvements where required, and produce revised prototypes until the design meets your requirements.

Can Cubik help move a prototype into manufacture?
Yes. We can support every stage of your product's journey, from prototype development and testing through to batch production and ongoing manufacturing support.

Is there a MOQ?
No. We don't have a minimum order quantity. However, it's worth noting that lower quantities typically have a higher cost per unit, so larger batch sizes usually offer better value.

Can Cubik provide complete box-build assembly, not just PCB assembly?
Yes. In addition to PCB assembly, we can provide complete box-build services, including mechanical assembly, wiring, enclosure integration, programming, testing, labelling, and final product assembly.

What files and documentation are needed for manufacturing?
If Cubik has designed your product, we'll already have everything required. If you're supplying an existing design, we'll require manufacturing files such as Gerbers, Drill files, a Bill of Materials (BOM), assembly drawings, pick-and-place data, and any programming or test requirements.

Can Cubik scale production if demand increases?
Yes. Whether you need a small batch of prototypes or ongoing production at higher volumes, we can scale manufacturing to meet your changing requirements while maintaining quality and consistency.

Can Cubik help reduce manufacturing costs before production starts?
Yes. We can review your design for manufacturability (DFM) and identify opportunities to reduce production costs through component selection, PCB optimisation, assembly improvements, and design refinements without compromising performance or quality.

Can Cubik help with an existing electronics design that needs fixing?
Yes, we can review, redesign and improve existing electronics where products have issues with reliability, manufacturability, component availability or compliance readiness.

I want to sell my product in the UK and Europe, can Cubik help me with this?
Absolutely. Our engineers can guide you through the product compliance process for the UK and Europe. We carry out pre-compliance testing in-house at Cubik Innovation and can manage the transition to full certification through our trusted UKAS-accredited test partners.

Can Cubik support repairs, rework, or investigation of product failures?
Yes. We can diagnose faults, investigate product failures, and carry out repairs or rework where practical. Our engineers will identify the root cause of the issue and recommend the most effective solution to improve product reliability and performance.

Does Cubik offer ongoing support after the design or manufacture is complete?
Yes. We build long-term relationships with our customers, providing ongoing engineering support, product updates, manufacturing assistance, component obsolescence management, and technical advice throughout your product's lifecycle.

Can Cubik help diagnose faults with a product already in production?
Absolutely. Whether you're experiencing intermittent faults, manufacturing defects, field failures, or performance issues, we can investigate the problem, identify the root cause, and recommend design or manufacturing improvements.

Can Cubik help prepare technical documentation for the product?
Yes. We can produce the technical documentation needed to support your product, including user manuals, assembly instructions, manufacturing documentation, test procedures, design records, and compliance documentation where required.
